Life and Whatnot

ADVENTURES

Hey all you bloggers out there. You’ve heard me write about what inspires us to write, why do we keep doing this amongst the rejection, etc, and finally, you’ve heard me preach on and on about how all that happens is God’s will.

My pastor calls Christianity an “Adventure with God.” I’ve always loved that saying, because I found it to be totally accurate. When I hear the word Adventure, I immediately think of Unpredictable. Like when I’m mountain biking. The terrain varies and I must be ready for loose sand, rocks, tree roots, and out here in the desert, cactus…LOL.

Well, God has allowed me to face an adventure — not of the athletic nature — The company for which I worked for 5+ years closed its doors yesterday. Needless to say, I was completely shocked by this, as were my clients. Sure, as many companies have been over the last year, we had been slow, limping through the slow economy. But a complete closure of the company—never saw that coming.

So, when I say God has allowed me to step into another adventure, I’m just saying that if I didn’t have God in my heart and in my life, I couldn’t imagine the wreck I would be. Just because I’m a Christian, I have not been promised a problem free life, hence the reason I love Christianity being called an adventure… 🙂

I have total faith in Him that things will work out. It might be difficult for me in the mean time, but that’s just some loose sand, rocks, or tree roots I need to go through. But I know He’s by my side.

My husband will laugh when he reads this next line, because I’m famous for saying it, “This’ll work out, it’s just the time in between that sucks.” We don’t know the road God’ll put me on, but what I do know is that it’ll work out, I just need to keep my eyes on Him during the path to the resolution.

I’m what you would call a “functioning workaholic.” — I love to work and I work a lot. So, I must admit, it’s strange knowing I will not have the work portion of my day today. Sure, I’ll spend the time cleaning up some of problems the closure of my company has caused for my client, despite the fact they “technically” are not my clients anymore. But, I love them all and am sorry that the closure of our company has left them stranded, even for a couple moments, so I’ll try and help them transition.

The rest of the time, there’s always writing to do, right?

Talk about left field! It was a shock to all of us that your company closed its doors. I’m happy to hear that you are already making strides to get something new lined up.

I can honestly say that you keep me going every day, including the days that I sometimes want to throw the towel in. I hope and pray that we continue to work together!

The way that you take everything in stride is inspriational. I know God will watch over you and guide you through this new “adventure”.
    P.S.
    GREAT analogy!

Thanks guys. It’s only because of your prayers. I tip toe around the cliff of “freak out” but by the Grace of God, doors are opening.
He is kinda awesome, isn’t he?

I admire how you’re handling this. I would be tempted to “freak out!” but you’re right – it’s all in God’s hands. There’s a purpose here and I look forward to hearing about it when this latest “adventure” is behind you!

I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your job. You are handling this “adventure” with such grace it’s inspiring. (I’d be cowering in the corner.)

I will pray for you, for the rocky terrain of your life to treat you well. Right now…

    Dear Jesus,

Thank you for the blessings you have given us. Please be a guide for Sheri on her road through life. Protect her and her family through the troubled times they are facing.

In Your name, I pray. Amen.

BTW: Thanks for visiting me! I stumble upon the contests by happenstance. Rachelle Gardner hosts many of them. So does Nathan Bransford. I’ll let you know if I hear of any in the near future. 😉
