As you’ve probably guessed it, I like reading supernatural books. Paranormal. Vampires. Anything with superpowers, right? Goes along with my taste in movies, as well. So, no surprise that’s what I write about, huh?

Well, I stumbled across an author, Tosca Lee, at the suggestion of a friend. I just finished Demon, a Memoir. I really liked it, so I thought I’d pass on a little review of it in case you’re interested in checking it out.

Demon, a Memoir by Tosca Lee

Demon, a Memoir by Tosca Lee

Back Cover:
Recently divorced and mired in a meaningless existence, Clay drifts from his drab apartment to his equally lusterless job as an editor for a small Boston press—until the night Lucian finds him and everything changes with the simple words, “I’m going to tell you my story, and you’re going to write it down and publish it.”

What begins as a mystery soon spirals into chaotic obsession as Clay struggles to piece together Lucian’s dark tale of love, ambition, and grace—only to discover that the demon’s story has become his own.

And then only one thing matters:  Learning how the story ends.

My Review:
Intriguing. Tosca Lee drew me in with her masterful writing. The first scene in the Café immediately captured me. The description was amazing. I actually felt like I was in there with Clay. She does a fantastic job throughout the book pulling me into her scenes with the description and the dialogue.

Oh, how my heart broke for Clay on so many different levels as I followed him on his journey. Tosca Lee was able to draw me into that character very well.

This was my first experience reading Tosca’s work, but I see myself reading all her future projects as well.

  1. Amy-glad to help you find a book to read. And, like Avily, my list of TBR (to be read) is sooo long, I’m slowly plugging away at it in between my own writing. 🙂

Kate-I’ve had those before. I just had to toss one out the door the other day…it was wicked bad. It happens.

Rosslyn-I’ve heard of that book. I have yet to read Screwtape Letters, but have heard great things. Oh and Perelandra. Not familiar with that one. I’ll check that out.

Billy- Yeah, Stephen King never fails, that’s for sure.

  2. Thanks for the review!

That’s one that is on my list, somewhere. There are so many books on my list right now…. 🙂

Looking forward to it, though. Someday.

  3. I enjoyed Tosca’s second book, Havah, too. Thanks for your review.

You may have already read it if you’re into supernatural fiction, but if you liked Demon, you should check out C.S. Lewis’s _The Screwtape Letters_. It’s older and a little denser to read than Demon, but *so* worth it! And Lewis’s _Perelandra_ is one of the scariest, most chilling portraits of evil I’ve ever read.

  4. Oooh. This sounds like a good one. I’ll have to check it out as well.

The last book I read wasn’t that great. So bad, in fact, that I don’t even want to admit that I finished it.
