This Writer's Journey

  • This Writer’s Journey-Victoria Smith

Writing is a journey, one I truly love and enjoy, but it can sometimes feel rather lonely. Hour after hour, alone, at the computer, pouring your heart and soul into each word. But I’ve learned I’m not alone, in fact, I’ve been blessed to be in contact with some amazing people, both writers and non-writers.

I want to share a bit of that with you. Each week I’ll be spotlighting someone I’ve come in contact with during my journey. Thanks for stepping along side of me-all of you-during this exciting time!

    Victoria Smith: Website and Facebook

I met Victoria online through an awesome blog called, NAAlley. We chatted things up during an interview and I just enjoyed myself so much I started cyberstalking her!

She’s such a positive and encouraging person, it’s hard not to smile around her. Sure, I’ve never met her in person (which I hope changes someday soon!), but I can literally FEEL her smile through the internet.

She’s such a champion of the New Adult category taking the writing world by storm, it’s inspiring. Thanks, Victoria. You’re such a sweet person, and I’m really glad our paths crossed.

I got to meet Elle at the Romantic Times Booklovers Convention in April, and boy, she’s all kinds of awesome.

Such a sweet, funny person. I’d only known her online before that, and just barely. But after RT, I started following more of her writing career.

You’ve got to check her out. Find her on Facebookor on herWebsite.Trust me, you’ll be happy you did. She’s the most encouraging, uplifting person you’ll meet.

Thanks for your smile, Elle!! I’m so glad our paths crossed. Hope to see you again soon!

    Lynda Hilburn

I met Lynda a while back through an RWA group. She happened to be looking for a critique partner and I liked the premise of her work. Plus, I figured, I have a psych degree so maybe that could help since the character is into that.

I mean, she writes Vampires, how could I not be interested, right? But hers are very different than the ones I write about in ,my Violet Night Trilogy, but still. *wink*

When I was at the Romantic Times Readers Convention back in April, I got the chance to sit down at talk with Lynda. She’s as nice in person as she is online!

I’m super glad Lynda has stepped along side of me on my writing journey!

    Jean Murray

Jean is a fellow CMP author, so I met her through the CMP author loop.

Her book,Soul Reborn, totally rocks by the way.

One thing that really stood out to me was Jean’s willingness to help. To share ideas about things that worked or didn’t work for her. Giving advice to those who were just starting out.

Really, she’s just a top-notch person and an excellent writer. I can’t wait for her next book to come, you’re going to love it!

I’m super glad I met Jean on this writing journey!

    Alan Dean Foster
I met Alan through my publicist back in March. He graciously agreed to go on The Morning Scramble with me. At first I was like, Really? You’re a NY Times Best Selling Author, what do you want to do hanging around me?
    For real.
He was just so nice. Gracious. Encouraging. It was really great getting to know him. And then he came down to join me at my Awaited Book Launch event at The Changing Hands Bookstore in May. He even gave me an autographed The Chronicles of Riddick book! **whoa**
I’m so very glad I got to get to know Alan on my writing journey. Such an amazingly talented person. His smile is contagious and he’s just so sweet. So, thank you, Alan, for coming along side me in my journey!

    Caridad Piñeiro

Like many of my dear writing friends, I met Caridad online. I found her blog. I ’bout fell out of my seat when she personally replied to a message I put in the comments of one of her blog posts. I was like, “Huh?” It was so awesome.

And that’s Caridad for you. Personable. Supportive. Energetic. Encouraging. Really, I don’t know how she does all the things she does. It’s like her day must have thirty-four hours instead of just twenty-four or something.

I was so excited that I got to meet her at the Romantic Times Convention last month. She’s just as sweet in person as she is online.

I’m really glad to know you, Caridad! Write on!!
