  • LOOK Challenge

Kendall Grey left a LOOK challenge open on THIS blog post:

I thought it might be fun to give it a try.

    Here are the rules:

    • Find the first usage of the word “look” in your work in progress and paste the surrounding paragraph(s) into your blog.
    • Invite as many people as you want to take part in the challenge with you.

Okay, mine’s from my latest New Adult WIP. I’m working on a title (which I asked your help with onTHIS post), so for now, it’s just Theo and Sadie-the main characters. I know, it’s lame, but that’s how I roll. LOL.

    Here goes:

“Why didn’t you go in and claim her right then? Instead you interrupted my pleasure and now you froze. She was inches from you, yet you said nothing.”

He couldn’t explain it. Her topaz eyes had captivated her. Despite wearing work clothes smudged with grease and smelling of it, she’d rendered him paralyzed with her stare. Over nine centuries of experience tracking demons and returning them to their place in Hades, one look from the tiny female and she’d rendered him useless. Not even a coherent word formed in his muddled brain.

His mate nodded at the girl, then swiped her fingers beneath her eyes. She made haste to a table with a coffee pot in hand. A wide grin filled the old man’s face.

    “Refill?” Her voice cracked.

“Yes, dear.” The man eyed Sadie in the most peculiar way.

And then Theo saw why. Sadie leaned forward with the coffee pot poised to fill the cup, and the old man’s hand landed on her behind.

Theo burst out of the booth, snarling. His fangs extended. A roar vibrated through his stomach and out his mouth so violently he feared fire had accompanied it.

Okay, that was fun! So, whoever shall I tag?

    I’m thinking:

    Tara Fuller

    Kate Evangelista

    Lisa Kessler

  • Need your help…

Titles stump me. Even more than writing back cover blurbs. So, I need your help!

I’ve got a new project (not contracted or anything, just a work in progress) and I need a title! Now, if this is just a working title. If it ever got published, more than likely the publisher would change the title or tweak it, but still. It’s nice to have a working title instead of “Theo and Sadie” which I’ve had for about five months now. LOL!!

Okay, ready? Here’s the “blurb” (it’s a work in progress as well)

    More Than Ready

Theo Bradford is a Gatekeeper to Hades tasked with retrieving the evil that seeps out. He’s waited over nine hundred years for his mark to surface on his mate’s body, calling him to her. When it finally happens, a vicious demon he sent to Hades months ago somehow defies the binding vanquish and returns, setting his targets on the female. If Theo can’t connect with his mate, he’ll never gain the strength needed to protect his fated love from the demon’s wrath or defend the Gates of Hades.

    Can’t Fight Fate

Graduating college in two years was easy for eighteen-year-old genius Sadie Nowland. But explaining the mark that appeared on her shoulder four days ago has her stumped. Then, a mystery man shows up and claims the mark identifies her as his mate, catapulting her neatly laid out life into chaos. The more time she spends with him, the harder it is to deny their connection – a connection her brain can’t comprehend and her body can’t deny. And that primal bond proves more imperative to their survival than either could ever imagine.

I know the blurb isn’t much to go on when it comes to figuring out a title, but give it a shot. I came up with a few during a little brainstorm: The Veil, Bound by Fate, Veiled, Keeper of Hades, Gatekeeper, Devoted, The Keepers, Marked, Valor, Fortitude, Fury, Brewing, Out of Time…

See, I told you titles weren’t my strong point. . . Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

**Sorry, but I have to put this here: This post is geared toward entertainment. Chatting up titles. Talking writing. If we happen to use a title, or a variation of a title, offered in the comments of this post, (including suggestions given via Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and all other social media outlets) said person surrenders all claims to the title. It does not entitle the person to any claim of royalties in any shape or form, now or in the future, should the book ever be published.**

  • Super Sunday

I get so much support from so many different people, I wanted to take a day out to say THANKS and post some links to some pretty awesome sites.

If you have anyone you want to give a shout out to, do so in the comments, I’ll go visit them and share the links.

    Let’s spread the love!

There are quite a few more I could put here, but these are a few of my favorites. What are yours??

  • What Indie-pubbed books are you reading?

Day TWO of the Indie-Pendence Week!

And I’m curious, what “indie” books are you reading? Or have read?

Another question, how do you think they compare to the “traditionally” published books?

I’ve never really been one for labels, period. If the book is good, it’s good, I couldn’t care less who published it!

For me, it’s all about the story. Mostly the characters. If I’m touched by the characters, I’ll read past most any typo I might find in a trad or indie book.

But I want to hear from YOU!

Here’s the working Back Cover Blurb:

He sacrificed his soul to the devil he hates to spare the heart of the woman he loves…

After a terrible accident rocks the foundation of their relationship, Gavin Cassidy, leader of the Sentinels who protect humans in Australia, and whale biologist Zoe Morgan call it quits on their short-lived affair. He can’t come to terms with the trust he inadvertently shattered, and being with him is killing her. Literally.

But love is a powerful motivator, and neither biology nor misguided oaths sworn to mortal enemies is strong enough to keep them apart, despite the fact their new paths are on a collision course that can only end badly. When Gavin’s illicit alliance with his most hated foe threatens to betray millions of innocents to ruthless Fyre Elementals, Zoe vows to sacrifice everything – including the whales she loves – to stop him from making the biggest mistake of his life
