Now…onto the movie.

Synopsis from IMDB

The warrior Thor (Hemsworth) is cast out of the fantastic realm of Asgard by his father Odin (Hopkins) for his arrogance and sent to Earth to live among humans. Falling in love with scientist Jane Foster (Portman) teaches Thor much-needed lessons, and his new-found strength comes into play as a villain from his homeland sends dark forces toward Earth.

My Review

I love action movies. I was very excited to go see this movie, yet I didn’t hold high hopes. Parts of it met my low expectations (wigs, fake accents, cliche phrases) but I was pleasantly surprised by the humor!

Yep, I said humor. I hadn’t expected that.

This movie didn’t knock me off my feet with its awesomeness, but I enjoyed the special effects and technical execution of the fight scenes.

Oh, and Chris Hemsworth is sort of cute…. *grin* But, jeez, the accent–which I think is supposed to be British–didn’t work really well.

Natalie Portman….she was okay. I’m prejudice, though. I’ve never really loved her. I know, she just won a spectacular award for Black Swan, but still….I didn’t connect with her at all.

So….I have to give it:

3 tickets — See it and think about taking a friend

  1. It sounds like your company might have been better than the movie, Lynn. 🙂 After watching the trailer, I think I’ll save my $20. Happy Tuesday!

  2. Thanks for the review- I had planned to give it a pass and it sounds like my guit was right. LOL! I DO love humor though, but I think I’ll wait for Netflix based on your review

  3. I didn’t see the movie but this past weekend the Sci-Fi Channel had not one but two Thor movies. One released this year and the other in 2009. Guess I’ll save my money and watch them

  4. As you already know, I LOVED Thor, saw it TWICE this past weekend and look forward to seeing it again. It’s a gem in the comic book world, setting the stage for the Avenger movie next summer. Chris is beautiful, if you ask me :-), and the accent is from the Outback where he’s from. I’m not a Natalie fan either, but for some reason I wasn’t distracted by her this time. Anyway, glad you didn’t totally hate it. 🙂 Happy Tuesday!

  5. Rachel, What did you think of Sucker Punch?

Kendall, Fast Five next weekend for me! Let me know what you think!

Ciara, I think you’ll enjoy Thor, at home 🙂

Lynn, great review! Couldn’t think of better company! Hugs <3

  6. I’m going to see “Thor” and “Fast Five” for a double feature date night on Saturday. I love action movies like this. Thanks for the review. I’ll let you know what I think about the movie. 🙂

  7. My 7 year old has been begging to see it. We told him sorry not happening. 🙂
I thought I wanted to see it, but now, I think I’ll wait for DVD. I’m NOT a NP fan either. Never saw Black Swan.
