My husband can attest to my disdain of the news. Every time I watch it I get upset at all the bad stuff, the bashing, the pain. I mean it hurts my heart to see what people do to one another. So much that I just want to avoid watching it completely.
But I can’t hide away and not be exposed to the world. I can’t live in ignorance. I mean, I guess I could, but then I’d lose out on seeing the good, too. The stories about people helping other people through the muck.
Those stories do exist out there, and if I close myself off to the world, I’d miss out on seeing those.
We live in a fallen world. No person is perfect. No system is infallible.
As cliche as it sounds, we do have to take the good with the bad. But how we take it can make the difference in our mood, in our behavior.
Fight negativity with words of encouragement.
Fight despair with acts of kindness.
Stay strong, my friends.
