Life and Whatnot

IN THE DOGHOUSE

Dogs crack me up. Ever watch them sleep? Their paws twitch, they sometimes growl, or even bark. It’s hysterical.

But I tell ya, this has got to be the funniest picture I’ve ever gotten of my sweet Maddux (he’s a Sheltie, and he’s five years old.)

We don’t have a doghouse, so he sleeps outside on the patio most of the time. Check this out:

Ok, even if you don't like dogs, you have to admit, this is cute. Look at his little paws in the air. Ahhhh....

In light of my sweet dog, I had to scope out some dog trivia…Do you know any of the answers?

1: What was the name of the dog in TV show “The Partridge Family”?

2: Chewbacca, the hairy Wookiee in the Star Wars movies, was inspired by George Lucas’ what?

3: Contrary to popular belief, dogs do not sweat by salivating. They sweat through what?

4: Why do dogs and wolves yawn?

I’ll post the answers later today.

Give ’em a shot and check back to see if you got them right.

    Very cute…
I liked these trivia questions; thanks for sharing. Seeing the thing about Chewie reminded me of a funny thing on “Stargate Atlantis”…do you watch it? One of the characters is Ronin, a huge guy with long dreadlocks. One of the other main characters nicknamed him Chewie.

Adorable…I have a hussy, I mean husky that looooves sleeping in that same position…Happy New Year to you and Charlie!

    Lynn,

Too brain fried for trivia, but the sweet dog sure is cute. Both my kids saw it on the computer and said “awwww” in that certain cadence only children have. 🙂

God bless you today! It’s going to be -10 here tonight. Aren’t you jealous??? 😉

Billy–yep, yawning that early is never a good sign for the day. LOL.
Jennifer–I tell ya, this dog sends me into stitches often. He’s a goofball.
Sarah—Hey, no fair googling…LOL. Good answers…you’ll have to stop back later to see if you’re right.
GzusFreek–good guesses, come on back later to see if you’re right…You’re close on one of them.
Janelle—Wow, you grew up in Sioux Center, IA? Small World, HUH? Lynn and RG Boeyink are his folks. Glad you stopped by!!!!!
Tracy—I thought you’d like that picture. These questions are stumpers, aren’t they?
    Julie—Oh, that’s funny…Pup-er-oni *SMILE*

Of course, I love the pic! When we still had Ashley, toward the end of her very long life, it looked like she was running in her sleep a lot. We thought maybe she was dreaming about being young and pain free and running and playing like she used to.

I don’t know any of the q’s for sure, but my guess on #3 is through their nose? Looking forward to seeing the answer!

Sheri, I have no idea of the answers to your questions even though I love dogs and have even had a few. My brother-in-law has a lab that sounds like Chewbacca – is that worth anything?

Anyway, I was reading my friend’s latest post to her blog and saw your name and that your husband grew up is Sioux Center. Now, I still live in NW Iowa (a few miles from Jennifer @ GDWJ) but I grew up in Sioux Center as well. I think I remember Charlie, but the truth is, I would probably know his parents better than I know him…because I’m that age now where I ask people who their parents are rather than their siblings. I’m not really that old but old enough I guess.

    Glad to have found you.

🙂 I’d like to sprawl like that today! hee hee.
I’d say the Pfamily didn’t have a dog, its a trick question. no, I think they did. what was his name?
I’ll say George Lucas was inspired by his dog
they sweat thru their tear ducts?? LOL
they yawn to drain their sinus’?

  • Sarah

Uh, can I Google the answers and do I win a prize? Just kidding!

Unfortunately I have zero clue to any of those answers; I’ve never had a dog, just a cat for a few years and my husband said ‘You’ll never see a cat in our house or I’ll shoot it.’ How cruel, though I know he’s a regular joker.

I can only TRY at guessing at number 3 and 4:

#3: A: Dogs sweat through….do they sweat??? Ummmm, they sweat through their feet????
#4: A: Dogs (and wolfs) yawn because they are thirsty??? Just a guess here…Or is the answer more obvious like they are tired??

Okay, I give…..I’m clueless with dogs, though I’d love a german shephard one of these days.

And yes, your dog looks soooo relaxed and comfortable…..awwwww, can’t I lay out like that sometime today, this week, this month??? Very cute puppy!!! I’ll check back for the answers you give later tonight after my kids are in bed…..fingers crossed….hope I did well on one of them but fear I didn’t…… 🙁

  • Billy Coffey

Wow, he looks comfortable. Made me yawn, which isn’t a good thing this morning.

I have no idea about those questions. I’m awful at trivia. But I’ll check back later just to find out the answer to number two!
