Marriage Trivia–Celebrate Marriage Week

Heart and RING

~~~
Okay, so anyone who has followed the Light of Truth blog for any amount of time knows I’m into movies, music, and trivia-along with writing and exercise-so you can’t be surprised I’d find some trivia/fun stuff about marriage during our Celebrate Marriage Week, right?
Give these a shot:
1. What’s the average age a man or woman gets married?
2. The first toast at a wedding should be to whom?
3. June has traditionally been called “The Marriage Month” during the Middle Ages. Why?
4. Okay, this isn’t trivia, but more of a challenge: Off the top of your head, how many movies about marriage can you list?
**Okay, give it a guess, I’ll post the answers to the trivia later today**
    Okay, here we go:
    1. What’s the average age a man or woman gets married? — Age 28 is the average age at which men get married, and for women, the average age is 26. http://www.chacha.com/question/what-is-the-average-age-that-a-man-gets-married-in-the-u.s
    2. The first toast at a wedding should be to whom? –The Bride http://www.brownielocks.com/weddingtrivia.html
    3. June has traditionally been called “The Marriage Month” during the Middle Ages. Why? —People were clean from their annual May baths. http://www.brownielocks.com/weddingtrivia.html
    4. Okay, this isn’t trivia, but more of a challenge: Off the top of your head, how many movies about marriage can you list? –Wedding Singer, Runaway Bride, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Four Weddings and a Funeral (I never saw it, but remembered it had the word Weddings in it…does that count?), War of the Roses, Until Death do us Part. Okay, that’s all I could think of….
    Amy–You nailed that one about the May baths……Wow! And, yep, the average age is 26 for women…but for men it’s older!
    KM–Oh man, how could I forget FIREPROOF (I did the brainstorm myself and didn’t think of Fireproof!). It’s only the most amazing wedding/marriage video in the history….ok, that’s enough…It’s just really good! I loved 27 dresses. That was awesome.
    Kat–I was married at 22 then turned 23 just a couple months into the marriage and I’m told I got married young…I just thought that was normal. LOL. You know when you know, right? LOL. Yeah, you’d think for the bride’s father…That was cute.
    I’ll check back later
    Oh geez…
    1. What’s the average age a man or woman gets married?
    I’ll guess 25. (I married at 20.)
    2. The first toast at a wedding should be to whom?
    The father of the bride for paying for it all. (Well, that’s who it SHOULD be for.) 🙂
    3. June has traditionally been called “The Marriage Month” during the Middle Ages. Why?
    Because everyone and their dog gets married in June. 🙂
    4. Okay, this isn’t trivia, but more of a challenge: Off the top of your head, how many movies about marriage can you list?
    Peggy Sue Got Married
    Betsy’s Wedding
    Father of the Bride
    Runaway Bride
    Four weddings and a funeral
    That’s it. I’m stumped.
    Okay 1-3 I don’t know.
    4? Movies about marriage?
    Runaway Bride
    Fireproof
    The Proposal
    Indecent Proposal
    Made of Honor
    27 Dresses
    Do they all qualify?
    Great post 🙂 Loving the celebration here this week!
    Hey, happy anniversary! Hope you and hubby have many more.
    I think I’m remembering June is the “marriage month” in the Middle Ages because this was soon after the yearly bathing in about May. Average age for marriage is going up — I’ll guess for 2009 it’s 26 — so since that’s probably wrong you can tell that I didn’t cheat by checking google first!
    Am anxious to see the triva answers 🙂
