MUSCIAL MONDAYS
What’s your favorite song? If you’re a writer, does it inspire your creativity? Cure writer’s block? If you’re not a writer, what do your favorite songs do for you?
This week I picked Wait for Me by Rebecca St. James. Have you heard of her? If not, click her name and check out her site. She’s one of my favorite artists for a couple reasons. First, she’s got a great voice. Second, she’s got a great message.
Now, I’ve listened to all types of music. Heck, I even have some Eminem on my I-tunes. I know, you’re about to die of shock, aren’t you? (Maybe I’ll spotlight one of his songs on a future Musical Mondays post, but not today).
Back to Rebecca.
When someone uses their talent and their fame to promote such a positive lifestyle, I feel so encouraged. To be bold in your faith in the entertainment industry can be extremely challenging. I’ve linked her song, “Wait for Me” below. I hope you listen and you’ll see why I think she’s got a great message.

I LOVE superchick…..Hero, One Girl Revolution…LOVE it.
Kat, I’m so jealous, you got to interview Rebecca AND Superchick. I’m green with envy!
Sarah. I went to a Casting Crowns concert a while back, THEY are amazing. My fav is Alter to the Door. Ripped my heart out.

My favorite song to cure writer’s block is “Set Me Free,” by Casting Crowns. If you listen closely, the song itself is a story about beating the demons that haunt us. Somehow, that song helps me to imagine conflicts in my own life, and then conflicts in my story.

Rebecca St. James, Superchick — I’ve interviewed both. Wow!
I can’t just pick one song. That’s like picking a favorite child. Lately, however, my favorite song to listen to is “Top of the World” by the Dixie Chicks. Even though the group earned my ire a few years back (not by speaking their mind — that’s our right as Americans, but by biting the hand that feeds them), I still love this song.
I’ll see if I can find it on YouTube and post it on my blog. It’s pretty cool. Later!

That’s cool- I like Rebecca St. James. I’m currently on a Superchick kick in my car- the Beauty from Pain album. It’s AWESOME! I usually have something else on my computer- lately it’s been the Buffy and Angel soundtracks. I like having background music while I write. It usually doesn’t matter what it is- just something.
