MUSICAL MONDAYS
Dead Man, Carry Me, by Jars of Clay
Okay, all the lyrics on this one were amazing, so, to narrow it down to just a few was difficult…but here were my favs:
Carry Me, I’m just a dead man lying on the carpet can’t find a heart beat
Make me breathe, I want to be a new man, tired of the old one, out with the old plan

I couldn’t find an “official” video, but this is what I found online:

Charlie first shared this song with me a couple years ago. At first I was like, “Dead Man?” But then, after I listened to the lyrics a few times, I caught on. It’s all about shedding the old me and movin’ on to the person God wants me to be. It’s a great song. Great message.

So, any favorite songs you’re listening to recently?

P.S. What a cool concept for a video!
And speaking of country roads (and one of my favorite singers), did you see last week’s The Office? The John Denver-off was great!

Lynn,
I’ve always loved Jars of Clay, but the 80s girl in me has liked this song since it came out…it sounds so much like The Police!
And, yes, awesome lyrics, too. Thanks for this post.
Rosslyn
Nice song…
It’s Billy’s fault that the song running through my head right now is “Country Roads.”
Every time I look at his blog, I see that he lives “at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains,” and that starts it off!
Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenendoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze.
Country roads, take me home
To the place
Where I belong!
West Virginia, mountain mama,
Country roads, take me home.

Jars of Clay was the first Christian band I ever started listening to. I love their sound, but their lyrics are SO much better.
Happy Monday, Lynn.
