If you want to conquer fear, don’t sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy. ~Dale Carnegie

I saw a rattlesnake within the first few months I was a trail runner. I was a total newbie. Had NO clue what to do.

I eventually made it down the mountain, but it changed me. I swear I heard that rattle sound everywhere. Had nightmares about it.

The thought of going back out on the trails kinda freaked me out. But I did it.

That first day back out there, I was concentrating so hard on watching for a snake, I got lost.

But I eventually made it. I faced my fear and made it. I learned more about how fellow trail runners handled snake sightings and read up on it. But most importantly, I kept running. Faced my fears.
I’ve seen snakes since, and sure, I hate seeing them, but I won’t let that fear keep me from doing what I love.

Stay strong, my friends.
