I think the biggest and best thing you can do is step back, take a breath, then face your challenge. 

But it is so difficult to do that sometimes. 

How do you step back to calm down when pain & adversity are slapping you right in the face?

Our natural instinct is to defend, battle, do anything and everything to face off with the issue(s).

Stepping back doesn’t feel natural.

But stepping back, pausing before action, could give us clarity. Help us not lash out or become destructive.

Maybe it means stepping away from the computer for a walk before hitting send/post.

Maybe it means counting to ten before making a rebuttal to someone frustrating you. 

Maybe it means closing your eyes to say a quick prayer.

Maybe it means taking a friend with you to a meeting you know might be challenging. 

Maybe it means calling the hotline before taking action to end the pain you’re feeling. 

You can survive.

You are strong. 

You are not alone.

And mostly, YOU ARE LOVED!
