I was grumpy (yep, it happens once in a while) and in a rush one day at the grocery store. I looked up from digging through my bag to find my credit card and the cashier smiled at me.

“You have pretty eyes,” she said. “How’s your day goin’?”

It kinda stopped me for a second, and then I smiled.

It was strange how that little gesture influenced my mood. I wasn’t so tense and in a hurry anymore. It was really cool.
