Let me give you the best piece of advice you have ever heard.
Ready? It’s really a gem.
You will make mistakes. You’re not perfect.
I’m not sure where this desire to be perfect stemmed from, but it’s pretty destructive. Mostly because it’s not attainable and when we do mess up, the feelings of guilt and shame can be pretty intense.
We’re human. We will make mistakes. Knowing and accepting that can lessen stress and it can curb our frustration with other people when they make mistakes, too.
It’s not a license to run around out of control claiming, “I’m not perfect so I’ll just do whatever.” But it is pretty freeing to be out from under the pressure that comes with trying to be perfect.
So, say it with me, “I’m not perfect, and that’s ok.”
