Say Anything

So, where were you April 14, 1989?

Maybe standing in line to see, Say Anything?

I loved the quirky Lloyd Dobler!! So, what do you remember about this funny little movie?

sayanything

1. When Lloyd is talking to his friends at the Gas & Sip, what kind of snack food is one of the guys eating?
2. What movie does Lloyd play for the people at the nursing home?
3. What other actor was nearly cast as Lloyd instead of John Cusack?
4. What is the name of the song playing from the boom box Lloyd holds up in the picture?

So, do you know the answers? Leave your guesses in the comments. I’ll be back to share the answers later today.

KIT—You know what? I hear she’s in all his movies somehow (either in them, or behind the scenes somehow). But yes, she was his sister in the movie….she had the kid, in the small apartment.

    🙂

Okay, that post totally made me laugh! I was in college in 89 about to graduate, actually. I think it was a few years later when I say that movie…but I love all that 80s stuff. Wasn’t his sister in the movie too?

    Cheers,
    Kit

It’s been quite a while since I’ve seen this movie, so the only answer I knew was “In Your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel. You’re right, great song. Christian singer Jill Parr actually covered it a few years ago, and believe it or not, it totally works as a song about Jesus!

One of my facebook friends who is a young single twenty-something had this as her status not long ago: “I would so marry Lloyd Dobler.” 🙂

    Yep, I’m a former Zoomie from Zonie… 😉

It IS a great song. It is on my list of 100 favorite songs on my blog. And on my ipod… 🙂

Tracy—Awesome….Air Force, huh? I don’t think I knew that about you. Yep, In Your Eyes…..GREAT SONG. Doesn’t get much better than Peter Gabriel, HUH?

On April 14th, 1989, I was in the Air Force, and living in England. I was actually preparing for a trip up to Scottland, the next day. I saw the movie on video after I came back to the States, but that was the only time. I don’t know the answer to any of the questions, except to # 4. The song being played is one of my all time favorites, “In Your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane! 🙂

I think I saw that movie once. Of course, when it came out I was MUCH MUCH MUCH too young to appreciate it, and certianly would not have been allowed to go see it without a parent! 🙂

Billy–Oh Yeah…Netflix all the way! It’s a wicked cool movie.
Travis–I’ve seen it a bunch….but I didn’t even know the answers to a couple of these, either! LOL

I saw the movie several years after it was made, but I can’t recall the specifics through the fog of my memory. The answers should be fun! Oh, on April 14, 1989, I was saddling my horse for a horseback camping trip with my high school friends…

I’ve always wanted to see this movie, but I never seem to be able to catch it. You would think that with seventy-three television stations it would have to be on SOME time, but it isn’t. Guess I’ll have to go the Netflix route…
