• Contest Fun:

    happy-dance

    Hello, everyone. I’m Caleb Aspros. Lynn writes about me in her novel Guardian.

    I saw that when Frostbite recently finaled in a contest, Amanda Smith popped back onto the blog to share the news. So, I thought it would be fun to do the same.

    Now, I hosted the Light of Truth blog WAY back in May of 2009, so you probably don’t remember. Besides, it was kind of boring. You would think my being 300-years-old would mean I have some interesting things to share.

    It doesn’t.

    Just means I’m horribly computer illiterate. I had to have my fellow Guardian, Madison, help me with most of my posts. She’s our computer wizard.

    Lynn entered Guardian in the Launching a Star contest way back in August of this year. So, on Sunday, when she got the call, she was excited needless to say. I exist only in the computer and even I heard her squealing.

    But that’s okay. To celebrate even the smallest success is fun to do. We should all do the same with anything we can. So, thanks for celebrating this little milestone with us!

  • The Weekend

    Well, it was fun having one of my characters from Guardian host the blog this past week. Being that he is three-hundred-years old, it was hard to convince him.

    ICONLETSSOCKHOPHe’s pretty resistant to changing from the “old ways” that’s for sure.

    Thanks for sharing in it with me.

    He did pretty well.

    Have a great weekend everyone. Be safe, and I’ll see you Monday!

  • FRIDAY FUNNIES-Blog host Caleb Aspros

    Caleb here. Despite being three hundred years old and not much of a technical person, I’ve had fun hosting Lynn’s blog.

    Of course, I had help from my team of Guardians, in particular from Madison, our resident techie. But Ruth, Joseph, Madison, and Daniel all say hi.

    “So, what are you going to post for Lynn’s theme, “Friday Funnies,” Ruth asked me.

    “Animals, of course!” I replied. I think animals are hilarious, so I had my trustee Madison dig up some photos

    I thought you’d enjoy.

  • THEN AND NOW THURSDAYS–Blog host Caleb Aspros

    This by far is my favorite theme. Then and now. Let’s see, I could choose from so many things it’s hard to limit. I enjoy sports, and my sweet Olivia says, “Well, duh, it’s because you’re a guy.”

    Sometimes it’s so obvious that I am two hundred and eighty years older than she is. It definitely keeps thing interesting.

    But, she’s right. I am very interested in sports. Sure, mine started with fencing at a young age, and in the 17 and 1800s sporting choices were very limited.

    But in, 1901 when the New York Yankees became an organization, I was in heaven.

    Babe_Ruth2Did I tell you I met Babe Ruth once?

    Yes, he joined the team in 1920 and was with them until 1925.

    I saw him after a game and shook his hand.

    Babe Ruth1918 hittingHe pitched AND was a hitter (he played mostly outfield when he wasn’t pitching if I remember correctly.)

    Don’t really see that these days anymore, do you?

    No, mostly pitchers only pitch. And only a few innings per game, too. It’s so different.

    So, does anyone know how much Babe Ruth made as a baseball player in a season? I had my fellow Guardian, Madison, search the web for me to find the answer. I couldn’t remember, but I thought it was $40,000. She found something that said he’d made $80,000 in 1930.

    Compared to Alex Rodriguez, who is now with NY Yankees, they are paying him $275,000,000.00 for the years: 2008-2018. That’s quite a change in salary, isn’t it?

    What do you think of sports these days?

  • TRIVIA TIME–Blog Host Caleb Aspros

    QuestionMarksI’ve been looking through some of Lynn’s older posts. I can tell she loves to do trivia. I just happen to have picked up a few tidbits of trivia over the three centuries I’ve been alive. Let’s see how you do…

    1. When did the first motion picture come out?

    2. What year was the first laptop computer invented?

    3. When did the movie Casablanca come out?

    4. When was the declaration of independence signed?

    ~~~
    So, leave your guess in the comments, and I’ll come back later to tell you the answers.
  • THE LAKE–Blog Host Caleb Aspros
    Hello there. It’s Caleb again. Hopefully my choice of music yesterday did not scare you away. I told Lynn that having me host her blog might be a mistake. ☺
    On Sunday, Lynn took me along with her and her husband when they went out to Lake Pleasant for Charlie to swim in the lake. I was surprised, nonetheless, to see a large lake in the middle of the desert.
    While Charlie swam, Lynn had some time to work on Guardian. I’m constantly surprised by all the changes she makes to my story. Most are good and help move it along, but some — I just don’t understand how she came up with the creative twists she puts on it to make my life sound so interesting.
    “It’s a God thing,” Lynn replied when I asked her. “Only God could have given these ideas a normal, ordinary chick like me. There’s just no other explanation.”
    I found what she said, along with the beauty of God’s creations at the lake, encouraging. It’s like she’s just given it up to God and is waiting to see what He’s got in store for her and our book, if anything.
    Enjoy some of the pictures I took using Lynn’s new camera. Lake Pleasant reminded me of my sweet Olivia’s lake house up in Northern Minnesota–well, minus the cactus.
    So, tell me, what inspires you?
