• Did I Notice Your Book

    Thanks, Ciara Knight for this fun blog fest. I love the Did I Notice Your Book segment on her blog, so it’s fun to participate.

    So, I’m doing the New Adult age range of novels and look what fun one I found…

    Ward Against Death, by Melanie Card.

    Goodreads Synopsis:

    Twenty-year-old Ward de’Ath expected this to be a simple job bring a nobleman s daughter back from the dead for fifteen minutes, let her family say good-bye, and launch his fledgling career as a necromancer. Goddess knows he can t be a surgeon the Quayestri already branded him a criminal for trying so bringing people back from the dead it is.

    But when Ward wakes the beautiful Celia Carlyle, he gets more than he bargained for. Insistent that she s been murdered, Celia begs Ward to keep her alive and help her find justice. By the time she drags him out her bedroom window and into the sewers, Ward can’t bring himself to break his damned physician’s Oath and desert her.

    However, nothing is as it seems including Celia. One second, she s treating Ward like sewage, the next she s kissing him. And for a nobleman s daughter, she sure has a lot of enemies. If he could just convince his heart to give up on the infuriating beauty, he might get out of this alive…

    ~~~~~~~
    Okay, first of all, this cover is intriguing. Love the dark colors, mysterious-looking colors and that HUGE moon in the background. It makes me want to pick up the book and check it out.
    Then I read the synopsis and it drew me in a little more! Have you guys read it? What’d you think?
    Spread the word, let’s see if Melanie Card finds us here.
  • Weekending and Reviews…
    Happy Weekending
    I love that phrase. My good friend, Lori, says that a lot. It just makes me smile. Weekends are a time to unwind, whether your true weekend is Saturday and Sunday or not.
    For me, it’s not. I work in a bookstore…which means RETAIL HOURS. LOL
    So, the bulk of my hours are on Saturday and Sunday. But I get a couple days off during the weekdays so it’s all good.
    I still enjoy the weekends, though, because going to a job I love every single day….that just doesn’t feel like work.
    ~~~

    As you well know by now, I’m in the middle of release month for my debut novel, Wasteland. I’ve been all over the internet on my blog tour, had my first book signing, and am working on scheduling a book signing out in ATLANTA! I hope it pans out. I’m super excited.

    But with a book release comes REVIEWS. Yep…people voicing their opinions of a book for all the world to see.

    You could say it’s a bit nerve wracking. I know there will be people who love and hate Wasteland. It comes with the territory. I mean, I love and hate some books. It’s no offense to anyone, some just aren’t my taste. I’m sure you’ve all run into that.

    So far, the reviews for Wasteland have been mostly favorable. Quite a few are listed here on AMAZON. I’ve started a tab here on the blog, too:WASTELAND REVIEWS. Also GoodReads and Barnes and Nobleare great places to see some reviews.

    There are a couple more going up on blogs today too:

    Jess the RomanceaholicandAvery Olive

    If you head over to Avery or Jessica’s blog and leave a comment, you’ll earn twenty-five entries toward the Amazon Kindle/Gift card Giveaway (click here for giveaway details.)

    ~~~~~
    If you’ve read Wasteland, I’d love for you to post a review. It’s one of the best ways to spread the word.
    Here are the big three places to post reviews:
    Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Goodreads
    Leave me the link to your review in the comments here and I’ll put you down for an extra twenty-five entries toward the Amazon Kindle/Gift Card giveaway.
    Thanks for your support!
    HAVE FUN WEEKENDING!
  • Happy FRIDAY!
    Are you ready for the weekend? I know I am, because on Sunday I’m headed up to beautiful Sedona, AZ for a write-fest. I can’t wait.
    For today’s post I had to share something fun that happened this week. It goes along with This Writer’s Journey, which is usually the post for Fridays, because it’s about friends I’ve met along the way.
    Because one of those friends surprised me with this yesterday:
    Okay, yeah. I was totally surprised.
    There was this tube outside my door. Evidently UPS delivered it the previous day. I was like, “What could this be?”
    I pulled it out and almost fell over. I was seriously surprised. I have the best group of writer friends ever. So thoughtful and supportive. So, I’ll be off to get it framed and hung…maybe some others will join it someday soon, huh? That’d be fun.
    ~~~~

    On a somewhat related note. You might have heard Wasteland is up for BEST COVER 2011 on Goodreads. It was as high as #3 at one point, even. That’s such an honor. It’s still in the top ten, so spread the word…let’s get that fantastic cover up there again. Crescent Moon Press did such a fantastic job on that thing.

    CLICK HERE to go vote.

    Have a fantastic Friday, everyone!

  • Honored and humbled

    Wow, I just have to say thank you to everyone for the support you all gave me this week. When I revealed the Wasteland cover on Tuesday, I received so many notes of encouragement. Over Twitter, Facebook, Email, the Blog, and even personal emails.

    This has been such a fantastic journey. I’m thankful for you all.

    Something else fun happened that day. Wasteland showed up on Goodreads! I’ve been on Goodreads since October of 2010, so I’ve seen my favorite authors have their pages, and I’ve clicked “become a fan” on their sites, marked their books “To Read”….but when I saw MINE up there.

    ****And even MORE fun…okay, not more, but equally as fun? Wasteland is up for Best Covers 2011 on Goodreads. COME VOTE for Wasteland! (CLICK HEREto go to the voting list.)

    Holy moly. It’s been a whirlwind week.

    Anyway. Just had to say thank you to you all! Hope you have a GREAT weekend!

  • New Adult…huh?

    ~~~
    With my release of the Wasteland cover yesterday, I got a couple people asking,What is New Adult?
    It’s a great question. Many don’t know about that category because it’s relatively new to the scene.
    Young Adultstories are just as complex as any mainstream novel, however the romantic element is handled more gently in comparison. Also, the characters are generally in Middle School or High School. New Adult novels take the stories to the next level romantically, and the characters are usually out of school, dealing with life challenges.
    I’m really proud to be among the first New Adult books published by Crescent Moon Press. I love their initiative to take this new, upcoming target audience and give them some fun and exciting stories to read.
    Thanks for celebrating with me yesterday! It was GREAT fun!
    Come find Crescent Moon Press on Facebook, Twitter, and their website!
