Debate This…Week of Love

Welcome to the Week of Love on Catch the Rush.

For anyone who’s been following me this blog for any length of time knows I devote a week a year to Love–> right around my wedding anniversary.

Me and my sweet hubby are celebrating 15 years of marriage this week (Wednesday), and I can think of nothing else more fun to blog about.

I mean, I am a romance writer, you know? So it totally fits.

So, for our Debate This topic this week, I present…

Celine Dion vs Michael Bolton

Who do you think is the best singer of love songs….

Celine Dion

Michael Bolton

Debate This….

I have quite a few things that inspire me–and not just inspiring me to write either. Sure, I have a lot of those, and I mention them weekly in my This Writer’s Journey segments.

But, today, I’m mentioning someone who inspires me on a whole different level. Someone who inspires me to be a better person. A better wife. A better athlete. And yes, even a better writer.

My husband, Charlie.

Here are a couple pictures of a triathlon he did recently.

He works so hard at his sport. Without fail, he trains daily. He watches what he eats–and boy do I wish I had the dedication he does. The way that man can turn away chocolate when it’s readily available is unnatural!

I joke, but truly, he inspires me. He shows me by example what it means to be dedicated to something. To work hard for it. Earn it. Yet, he’s quick to smile and give God the credit for any success he has. He’s right, too. God has truly blessed him with a strong mind, heart and soul.

And a triathlete training for the full Ironman needs that. To make it in a 2-mile swim, 110+ mile bike ride, and 26-mile run—YIKES!

So, I thank you, Charlie, for being such a good example to me and those around you. I’m blessed to call you husband.

Who inspires you?

The Men in My Life. . .

There are two very important men in my life. First, my hubby, Charlie. The second, my dad, Don.

This past week I got to spend some AWESOME time with both of them.

It started with an impromptu visit to Sedona to hang out with my dad. We went running through the red rocks of Sedona.

I’m so blessed to be able to run shoulder-to-shoulder with my dad. If you don’t remember, he’s the one who did the 3,100 mile bike ride across the country , so you can guess where I inherited the genes for extreme/endurance sports.

But hey, I’m not complaining. He’s been such a fantastic influence on me. He taught me focus and determination.

The week ended with my sweet hubby having a couple days off from work, so I got to spend tons of time with him.

We started off with a thirty-mile bike ride, then spent time downtown where I got to eat some SWEET yogurt from MOJOs.

We sauntered around Borders and Barnes & Noble (two of my favorite places), hung out with some friends, then rounded off the weekend by watching movies and eating junk food.

All that time with the two men in my life got me thinking.

I’m really blessed.

They’ve supported me and encouraged me to follow my passion of writing. For that, I’m forever grateful.

So, who are the special people in your life who give you unconditional love and support?

Friday Funnies

Have you heard of Tim Hawkins?

I mentioned him on this blog a long time ago after seeing him LIVE at our church. OH…. but he’s worth another mention today on Friday Funnies

Last week we hung out with some friends and watched one of his DVDs. Again I was near tears, laughing.

By far, this is his funniest skit:

What’d you think?

Happy Friday, everyone!
