    Nerf Ball 2

    The nerf ball came out in 1969, can you believe that?

    Man I used to love these things.

    They were fun to whip at people.

    Nerf GunOh, and how ’bout that nerf gun?

    Throwback Thursday – EtchASketch

    Have you ever sat and reminisced about what was popular when you were a kid? Well…. Throwback Thursdays is right up your alley.

    EtchASketch

    Okay, so did you have one of these?

    I sure did. Loved it.

    elf etcha sketchClearly I wasn’t as talented as Elf though…remember? In that movie he did some fantastic art with those things.

    LOL.

    Elf EtchasketchThey were pretty cool. Actually invented in the 50s, did you know that? But they didn’t debut until the mid 80s.

    Ahhh . . . memory lane.

  • THEN AND NOW THURSDAYS

    Okay, so, this is a different flare to the normal Then and Now Thursday….but I couldn’t resist. Wait, maybe I should have saved it for the Friday Funnies, huh? I mean, check it out. Big hat, missing my two front teeth, oh, and that little shirt — what IS that anyway???

    Sheri and Grams and Gramps

    Yep, that’s me in the middle.

    Puny, little, scrawny me. Can you see the two front teeth are missing?

    I saw this while viewing the memorial DVD my step-dad, Ed, made for Grams’ funeral.

    Yeah, this brought me to tears.

    Of both laughter and sadness.

    I guess that’s kind of what funerals are like, huh?

    Memories that make you smile and sadness at what you will miss now that the person you cherish is gone.

    This picture brought back fond memories of fishing with the grandparents, goofing around in the back yard until I could hardly stand I was so tired, and eating cake donuts.

    ~~~
    Have you ever stumbled across an old picture that brought you back in time?
  • MEMORIES–sports edition
    Sports week continues with MEMORIES.
    ***
    “Memories?” you ask?
    Yep. Our pastor told us once to, “Make a memory” because those are the things we can hold near and dear to our hearts more than anything.
    Well, my sweet hubby, Charlie, went out and made a memory this past Super Bowl weekend.
    He and his brother grew up watching the Steelers. It’s their favorite team. So, when Charlie realized the Steelers were Super Bowl bound, he thought of an opportunity to create a sweet memory……To surprise his brother by showing up in Denver to watch the game with him.
    So Charlie began the fun by talking with Tim’s wife and setting everything in motion. BUT, to add to it, Charlie’s dad called and said HE wanted in as well.
    Oh, this memory was getting better by the minute.
    Saturday before the big game, Charlie and his dad met up at the Denver airport, hopped into a rental, and showed up at Tim’s front door.
    SURPRISE!!!
    Sweet Hubby and brother.
    What a memory. Look at those smiles. Now that’s priceless.
    What’s the last memory you’ve created?
  • FRIDAY FUNNIES
    Friday Funnies is a chance to share your wild and crazy stories. Whether it’s a personal story or just something that strikes you as funny. Let’s laugh and have some fun, but keep it clean, cuz I’m a watchin’ **wink wink**
    ***
    I grew up in Minnesota…and yes, it’s pronounced MinEEEsOta **smile** Hey, what can I say, I was born in Fargo, ND, OK? And YES, the accent IS that thick. For real.
    Sorry, I digress.
    The funny story I have for today is kinda silly, from when I grew up. As I mentioned before, I grew up in Minnesota. And we all know it can snow a ton in Minnesota and it gets really cold, right? (Hence my move to Arizona….) As kids, we would go and play outside no matter what the weather.
    Well, when I was in sixth grade, me and my friend, Shannon Howell, were in my neighbor’s back yard climbing a tree.
    I was about twelve feet up while Shannon stood on the ground watching. As I’m doing my best immitation of a monkey, I reached up toward the branch above me to pull myself up. As I stepped on the branch to lift me high enough to grab the branch, it snapped.
    I plummeted to the ground.
    You might be thinking, “What’s so funny about that?”
    Yeah, well, it was the dead of winter and I was in a full snow suit. Yeah, remember those? The movie, “A Christmas Story” comes to mind when I picture that snow suit I was wearing.
    I meah, can we say, “DAHHHHH?” Dry, brittle branches? Thick, encumbering winter gear? Yeah, not a good mix.
    I fell and landed smack on my back. The wind whooshed out of my lungs and I hadn’t ever experienced that before. I remember Shannon leaning over me asking me if I was all right. I reached for her thick jacket and pulled her close asking, “Am I dead?”
    Mom jetted me to the emergency room (one of my many trips there for various broken bones, injuries….) They took an x-ray and said the ribs on my left side were broken.
    For some reason, they took a second x-ray and determined they weren’t broken, it was just something on the x-ray before (like a piece of hair or something?–I don’t remember.)
    In the mean time, my little boyfriend (yeah, the whole can -I-hold-your-hand-type boyfriend) called my house and my lovely sister told him, “Oh, yeah, she fell out of a tree and is in the hospital.”
    I ended up with bruised ribs and got out of PE for a week or so.
    I look back and chuckle at some of the stupid things I did and laugh. Frequently.
    What’s a funny thing you did while growin’ up that you look back and laugh at?
    Sunglasses
    ***
    Ha! Do you remember these? And they looked pretty good on Tom Cruise back then, didn’t they? Admit it, you had a pair of these, didn’t you?
    tomcruisewayfarer
    I had a pair that were WAY too big for my face. Dark black. Oh, I thought I was the coolest chick out there.
    BUT NOW….
    OH yeah, they are still pretty big. And … yes, they cover most of my face. BUT, they look way cooler, wouldn’t you say?
    So, does this bring back any memories?
