• This Writer’s Journey–Caridad PiƱeiro

Writing is a journey, one I truly love and enjoy, but it can sometimes feel rather lonely. Hour after hour, alone, at the computer, pouring your heart and soul into each word. But I’ve learned I’m not alone, in fact, I’ve been blessed to be in contact with some amazing people, both writers and non-writers.

I want to share a bit of that with you. Each week I’ll be spotlighting someone I’ve come in contact with during my journey. Thanks for stepping along side of me-all of you-during this exciting time!

    Caridad Piñeiro

Like many of my dear writing friends, I met Caridad online. I found her blog. I ’bout fell out of my seat when she personally replied to a message I put in the comments of one of her blog posts. I was like, “Huh?” It was so awesome.

And that’s Caridad for you. Personable. Supportive. Energetic. Encouraging. Really, I don’t know how she does all the things she does. It’s like her day must have thirty-four hours instead of just twenty-four or something.

I was so excited that I got to meet her at the Romantic Times Convention last month. She’s just as sweet in person as she is online.

I’m really glad to know you, Caridad! Write on!!

    DEVIN MOLINAR

I met Devin through church when she started volunteering in the bookstore where I now work. I’ve gotten even closer to her since she started doing my hair.

Yep, she’s responsible for the blue streaks.

Devin is an awesome person. She’s got drive, motivation, and compassion rolled up in a ball of inner and outer beauty. Only eighteen, she has a level of determination I only WISHED I’d had while in high school.

Watch out world, Devin’s coming, and she’s going to make you a better place!

Now Sandy isn’t a writer or author, but knowing her has truly enriched my life. She was recently diagnosed with stage four cancer (about a month after my sweet mother in law, Lynn, died of liver cancer). With everything still so raw from Lynn’s death I wasn’t sure how I could handle going through this with my dear friend, Sandy.

The picture above is of Sandy receiving one of her chemo treatments. She’s since finished her first round of chemo and is currently in a five-week, five days per week radiation cycle. Once she’s finished with radiation, she’ll do another cycle of chemo.

What has inspired me the most is her attitude through all of this. Such a steadfast faith. She didn’t ask for this journey. Doesn’t really want it, I’m sure. Yet she remains positive. Her smile is simply dazzling, and she’s never short of an encouraging word despite the mountain she’s climbing.

I’m so glad our paths crossed.

    Stephanie Morrill

I “met” Stephanie online during that first year I started writing when I belonged to ACFW. I was lucky enough to meet her in person in 2009 when I’d attended a national writing conference, too. And yep, she was as nice in person as she was on line.

That’s actually what struck me about Stephanie. Just a very nice, honest and encouraging person. Very talented writer, and I was so touched by her genuine interest in how things were going with me and my writing. I was young, unrepresented and just learning the ropes.

Thanks to her, I learned a lot.

    Paranormal Reads

The admins over at Paranormal Reads have totally inspired me. They run the Paranormal Reads Facebook page and just recently opened a review blogas well. You can find them on Goodreads, too. I found their Facebook page over a month ago, and I’m having so much fun hanging out with them.

They talk books, movies, pictures, reviews…and they have fun giveaways and contests. What I love most is that they are so supportive and encouraging. With all the negative nellies out there, it’s refreshing to find a space on the internet where there’s encouragement and support.

Keep up the good work, you guys. I’m so glad our paths crossed!
