The Insecure Writer’s Support Group

Thanks to Alex J Cavanaugh for this monthly meme.

Writing is a crazy journey filled with ups, downs, curves and cliffs. I leapt off a couple of cliffs recently when it comes to the writing world.

Awaited released May 1st: It’s my sophomore release–that’s nerve wracking in itself–not to mention the thoughts that roared through my head on release day. “Will people like it more/less than Wasteland?” “Will it flop?”…you get the drift.

Prelude to Darkness released May 7th: As if ONE release wasn’t enough…a little short story released as well. It’s Wasteland point five. A prequel to book one.

***bites nails***

So, to get me through the “yikes” of release month, blog tours, appearances, I had a few quotes of inspiration and encouragement.

“Never regret. If it’s good, it’s wonderful. If it’s bad, it’s experience.” ~Victoria Holt

“Wherever you go, go with all your heart.” ~Confucius

“Failure is no falling down but refusing to get up.” (I’m not sure who said this one–found it online)

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” ~Albert Einstein

Well, you get my drift. I hope these little quotes can help encourage you if you’re facing anxiety, uncertainty, or just feeling blahhh. Chin up, you’re not alone. Let’s live life together!

    1. Thanks, Julie. Glad you liked the quotes. I just love surfing around for things that inspire me. Encourage me. I figure others might want to read them too! 🙂

    1. Thanks, Ciara. It was a lot of fun!!! I was so happy to get Russell’s story out there. He’s such a fun character.

    1. Hi, Jennifer. Yep. Super busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! Keeps me out of trouble…but causes more trouble for my characters!! 🙂

Next? I have another trilogy beginning to release in October, so I’m working with Super Editor to do final touch ups on that. And **and you’re hearing it here first** prepping a self-publishing trilogy. It’s written, just going through editing. Super excited!

    1. Thanks, Melissa. I’m having a blast!! Love getting to know you guys, too! Nice support system in the writing world.

  1. Very nice quote and thanks for sharing them. Best of luck on your new releases and I wish you much success. It helps knowing that even the pros can still get nervous 🙂

    1. Nerves are part of every game I think. Even pro athletes. But I’ll take the nerves as long as I can keep doing what I love.

    1. I know, right? I like surfing the internet for quotes that inspire me. Same with pictures of sunsets and angels/wings! 🙂 They just make me smile.

  2. Good luck with the new releases. It must be so daunting but exciting at the same time. Those quotes are spot on and a great reminder that we should keep moving forward regardless. I think that’s especially important for writers as we have to go through so much rejection and self doubt just to publish a book. And then there are the reviews!

    1. Daunting but exciting. . . you nailed it. This publishing journey has it’s up and downs…well, any industry has I suspect. But I’m glad to be doing what I do. I just love it!

  3. I love that quote by Victoria Holt. I need to remember that if it’s bad it is experience. I can let the bad get to me, too easily. Congrats and best of luck on your two releases. That is so exciting.
