THE SHACK

So, how many of you have read The Shack, by William P Young? What did you think? I’d love to hear.

I just finished it. I was pleasantly surprised by it, though. It was direct, to the point, and often very convicting. I cried, I laughed, and I wondered — sometimes simultaneously.

So often I feel bound by rules, guilt, and obligation, I like how this was addressed in the book, sometimes I forgot I was reading fiction. Although I’m not a theologian, it seemed to be, on my first read, biblically sound.

What did you think? I’m curious.

I have read The Shack, it did a good job of shaking people out of their normal thinking patterns, but I had a couple of theological problems with it.

First, the author blurred the “persons” of the Godhead and the “personification” of wisdom. This was a very serious error.

Second, he left no option for judgment, wrath, holiness, hell, and that hard, but necessary side of God that we often would rather not think about. Holiness is just as necessary as Love if we are to truly know God as He shows himself to be in both nature and scripture.

Sandi, this guy goes up to a shack, you’ll find out the significance of the shack in the book, and talked with the trinity. Yep, the trinity…as people. Very interesting!!!
