Find joy in the junk.

*****

Life throws a ton of junk our way, doesn’t it? Challenges we’d rather not face off with. Obstacles that make us cringe. Pain. Grief.

The list could go on and on. While you’re going through some of that junk, you might wonder if you’re going to drown. And you might wonder why everyone else has it so good or easy.

They may be struggling just as much as you, the only difference is that they are finding joy in their junk.

But how? When you’re squaring off with mountainous obstacles that appear never-ending…

It’s a choice. I know some people are cringing right now as they read that. Because choices like this seems easy, right? Of course people want joy instead of pain and suffering. Duh.

But how do you find joy when you’re about to fold beneath the weight of life?

That’s the magic question. I don’t have all the answers, all I can do is share what I’ve done. What I’ve learned.

The main thing for me is my faith. It’s a solid foundation. A peace that keeps me strong. But there’s more.

I celebrate the small things. I literately search out anything I can in the day that is positive. Almost like a challenge. Because if I don’t, I can easily fall into focusing on the bad, stressful stuff each and every day.

Eating right and exercising are two other things that really help me. I tend to lean toward eating comfort food and slothing on the couch when I’m struggling.

To get out there and move, get fresh air, strain your muscles a little can go far. It doesn’t have to be a marathon, either. You’d be amazed how a little exercise lightens the stress-load from your shoulders.

How do you find your joy in all the junk?
