Throwback Thursday…book style

So, I was thinking–I know that’s a bit scary for you all, but hang with me.

Now, I get asked ALL the time if I’ve wanted to be a writer all my life. Or if I grew up reading and writing all the time….

Actually. Nope. I mean, I read some, but there’s one book I DO remember reading.

Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, by Judy Blume.

When I read it, I was like WHOA…can they write about that stuff?

But it was cute, intriguing, and funny.

So for our Throwback Thursday, I’d love to hear about a book that influenced you while growing up Smile

The Outsiders. It was one of the first books that I didn’t skip chapters or read the beginning and end just to write a book report. That was the day a new world opened for me. I’d never known that reading could make you cry and send you to a new world.

Oh wow, I remember reading that in the library when I was in elementary school…damn if I can remember the grade. I just remember Mrs. Fosty, the librarian, recommended the book to me. What I do recall is the, “We must, we must, we must increase our bust.” LMFAO. There I was sitting at the table, laughing out loud. Mrs. Fosty smiled. I think she knew what part I was giggling over. She was a great librarian, someone I enjoyed talking books with.

I wish I could say that there was a special book while growing up that inspired me to read, but actually up until I was about 44yr. and I am 48yr. now I hated to read. LOL… My daughter talked me into reading the book Twilight and I told her I would give it my best shot, but that I could never find anything that could hold my interest enough to remember what I read, or to even get through an entire book. But when I picked that book up and started reading it, I was hooked. I ended up reading that series twice, and from there I have been forever looking for new and exciting paranormal romance series to read. I tell my daughter that she has turned me into a book junkie. LOL…. Because I just can not get enough!!! I now have so many books that I could almost say I have a library. Now I not only love to read but have problems laying the books down. I have been disable to work for over ten years now, and I do find that I love the adventures and places that my books take me, because I am not able to travel any other way, not only due to my health, but also money. Disability does not provide enough to live on. But now instead of feeling really bad about that, I have an escape from it through my books. And its thanks to authors like you Lynn.
I do write poetry from time to time. And have thought of trying my hand at writing maybe a short story. Who know’s?
