• Did I Notice Your Book

    Thanks, Ciara Knight for this fun blog fest. I love the Did I Notice Your Book segment on her blog, so it’s fun to participate.

    So, I’m doing the New Adult age range of novels and look what fun one I found…

    Ward Against Death, by Melanie Card.

    Goodreads Synopsis:

    Twenty-year-old Ward de’Ath expected this to be a simple job bring a nobleman s daughter back from the dead for fifteen minutes, let her family say good-bye, and launch his fledgling career as a necromancer. Goddess knows he can t be a surgeon the Quayestri already branded him a criminal for trying so bringing people back from the dead it is.

    But when Ward wakes the beautiful Celia Carlyle, he gets more than he bargained for. Insistent that she s been murdered, Celia begs Ward to keep her alive and help her find justice. By the time she drags him out her bedroom window and into the sewers, Ward can’t bring himself to break his damned physician’s Oath and desert her.

    However, nothing is as it seems including Celia. One second, she s treating Ward like sewage, the next she s kissing him. And for a nobleman s daughter, she sure has a lot of enemies. If he could just convince his heart to give up on the infuriating beauty, he might get out of this alive…

    ~~~~~~~
    Okay, first of all, this cover is intriguing. Love the dark colors, mysterious-looking colors and that HUGE moon in the background. It makes me want to pick up the book and check it out.
    Then I read the synopsis and it drew me in a little more! Have you guys read it? What’d you think?
    Spread the word, let’s see if Melanie Card finds us here.
  • Four-Word Interview
    ~~~~~

    Hey, everyone. Emma Martin here with my new friend Sammy Lorre!

    First of all, I just have to say how much your cover ROCKS, Sammy. Must have been of you right after you fell from heaven, huh? Second, it’s wicked-awesome meeting a real-life fallen angel-your wings are amazing. I’ve seen a lot of crap slaying Vamps for the past three years, so this is pretty cool change of pace!

    Nice to meet you, Emma. Ciara raves about you and Lynn. It’s a pleasure to be here.

    Vampires? Oh my, are those like demons?

    I hope you’re enjoying the release of your story. I haven’t had time to read it yet-stupid Vamps are acting up again and it’s a major time-suck-but I know Lynn has read it. She raves about it. So once things calm down for me, I’m all over the story.

    I’m enjoying the release. It’s kinda crazy learning how to use the internet and all.

    Okay. You ready?

    I think so. *shifts nervously*

    Oh, and you guys who are reading this…stick around to the end, there might be a little giveaway…

  • Four Word Interview

    Hey, everyone, Emma Martin here. Remember when I was on the blog that one time…okay, I’ve been on this blog a lot, but this one time, I did a four word interview?

    Yeah, well, I thought it might be time to make an appearance again to interview someone.

    And not Lynn.

    She’s actually pretty boring **no offense**

    Instead, I found someone else a tad more interesting….

    A good friend of Lynn’s, Ciara Knight, has this pretty interesting character, Gabriella Moore. So, I asked my people to ask her people, and voilà…here she is:

    Emma Martin: Favorite time of day . . .

    Gabriella Moore:Sunrise, because nightmares end.

    ~~~
    EM: Fondest childhood memory is . . .
    GM:Anything before mom’s death.
    ~~~

    EM: Favorite food to eat . . .

    GB:*blushes* Picnic food with Alex.

    ~~~
    EM: If granted one wish. . .
    GB: Preventing Mom’s death. Wait, saving Alex’s soul. Ugh. Can’t decide. Not fair….
    ~~~~~

    Okay, she got a little riled up there a second, so I allotted a few more words on that last one.

    It’s tough answering in only four words, isn’t it?

    Thanks, Gaby. It was nice meeting you. Get ready, everyone. Gaby’s story is coming to print March 2012!

  • This Writer’s Journey . . .

    ~~~
    Writing is a journey, one I truly love and enjoy, but it can sometimes feel rather lonely. Hour after hour, alone, at the computer, pouring your heart and soul into each word. But I’ve learned I’m not alone, in fact, I’ve been blessed to be in contact with some amazing people, both writers and non-writers.
    I want to share a bit of that with you. Each week I’ll be spotlighting someone I’ve come in contact with during my journey. Thanks for stepping along side of me-all of you-during this exciting time!
    ~~~

    Ciara Knight

    Ciara Knight and I connected through the internet, like many of my close writer friends. If I remember correctly, we have a mutual friend through ACFW that connected us. Anyone who knows me knows my memory is pitiful, so I may not remember exact details of how I meet people, but to me the relationship is what matters.

    Ciara is so laid back, thoughtful, and encouraging. She is always quick to offer support when things are tough and celebrate when things go well–with both writing and everyday life stuff.

    We often bounce ideas off one another when it comes to titles, character names, or just whatever. She’s such a great writer, and when she critiques a story of mine, I come away from it a better writer.

    Thanks, Ciara. I’m so glad our paths crossed!
