• MUSICAL MONDAYS–Shelby Daniels Week

superchickHi everyone. I’m Shelby Daniels. Yep, the one Lynn chronicles in her Light of Truth trilogy. She wrote three books about my whacked-out life. How cool is that?

I harped on her for, like, three weeks to let me host her blog. She finally relented and said I could have free reign this whole week.

    The whole week!

Oh yeah! This is gonna be fun.

Lynn said that she usually talks about Music on Mondays. Heck yeah! I’m way into music. So, I shuffled through my 2,000 songs on my i-pod and found one I think you’ll like.

Well, I hope you like it.

Stay tuned this week…it’s gonna be a fun one!

So, I’m totally into this song by Superchick. Now, Lynn said she’d already featured Superchick here before, but I had to show you this song anyway.

    Hero, by Superchick.

    These are my favorite lyrics:

No one talks to her, she feels so alone
She’s in too much pain to survive on her own
The hurt she can’t handle overflows to a knife
She writes on her arm, wants to give up her life
Each day she goes on is a day that she is brave,
Fighting the lie that giving up is the way,
Each moment of courage her own life she saves
When she throws out the pills a hero is made

Heroes are made when you make a choice; You could be a hero
Heroes do what’s right; You could be a hero
You might save a life; You could be a hero, You could join the fight
For what’s right for what’s right for what’s right

Now, before I “found the light” I totally struggled with wanting to kill myself. Heck, I even had the razors all picked out. Even thought of jumping off the bridge I used to get drunk at every night.

    **yeah, scary**

I think that’s why I love this song so much. Life is a choice. After God finally got through to my cold heart, I realized I could be a hero.

And no, not a hero just because I can see the future and heal people injuries – although that is wicked cool – but a hero through my actions.

    Through my choices.

    Hope you liked the song.

Be sure to come back tomorrow, I hear Tuesdays and Wednesdays are kind of a “free” days so I can write about whatever I want. I can’t believe Lynn said I could have the whole week….she doesn’t know what she’s getting into. **wink**

  • MUSICAL MONDAY

francvr350x350I found a great new song to pump me up. Free to Be Me, by Francesca Battistelli.
That name is such fun to say, isn’t it?

Besides having a fantastic voice, her lyrics really caught my attention. The characters about whom I write are imperfect, even after they find Christ and true love…so, when Francesca’s song found it’s way onto my i-pod, the following lyrics made me put the song on repeat a few times:

“I got a couple dents in my fender. Got a couple rips in my jeans. Try to put the pieces together but perfection is my enemy, And on my own I’m so clumsy, But on Your shoulders I can see, I’m free to be me.”

I’ve got a few dents and rips, that’s for sure, but God sure does still love me, huh? On HIS shoulders, I can see….I mean, how cool is that?

Are you sick of just going through the motions??

    The Motions, by Matthew West

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLJF9vaIJ_0]

The lyrics aren’t up yet, but I grabbed a few just by listening. They are the ones that hit me the strongest. And I mean, hit me like a tidal wave….So get ready.

    ***

I don’t wanna go through the motions

I don’t wanna go one more day

Without your all consuming passion inside of me.

I don’t wanna spend my whole life askin’

“What if I had given everything instead of going through the motions.”

    Wow, what’d you think?

Is there a special song that’s rocked your world lately?
