• Friday Funnies–Celebrate Marriage Week

    Celebrate Marriage Week continues with Friday Funnies.

    Okay, I found this on You Tube…and while I am not a huge fan of the song…it’s all in good fun, right? Gotta give them credit for their creativity.

  • Throwback Thursday–Celebrate Marriage Week

    Okay, so we’ll have a marriage themed “Throwback Thursday” — And yep, you can guess it…I found a song/video blast from the past.

    Hey, it’s just a song though, okay?- ☺ There’s no other reason I picked this other than it’s from when I grew up, he was a wicked-cool musician (yea, a little different with the twitchy lip and all), and way creative.

    Plus, he’s in one of my favorite movies (Wedding Singer)

    Yep, you guessed it…Billy Idol

    **Do you remember when Billy Idol flew onto the music scene? Yikes, he was kinda scary, huh? LOL**

  • The Anniversary–Celebrate Marriage Week

    The Anniversary Escape.

    Well, my sweet hubby outdid himself this anniversary. Thirteen years of marriage is nothing to blink an eye at these days, so we celebrated big. Well, big by our standards, anyway.

    He swept me away to Camelback Inn for a fantastic weekend getaway. It included beautiful sites:

    The View from the Spa
    The View from the Spa

    Trip to the Spa
    Trip to the Spa

    The lap pool
    The lap pool

    Oh, and not to mention fun street names

    Fun Street Names

    And a fantastic meal from Houston‘s

    Anniversary Dinner

    ~~~
    It was fun getting away from the hustle and bustle of a normal day to celebrate the covenant we’d made to one another thirteen years ago.
    It’s amazing how the years have zoomed by, but I am looking forward to each and every year the good Lord allows us to have together moving forward.
  • The Wedding Surprise
    heart54g~~~
    Love. It’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it?
    I love love. For real.
    I did a series on it around my 12th wedding anniversary last year. It’s creeping up on that time again…13 years come next week. So, I’m sure I’ll do another series on LOVE, cuz it’s just grand.
    So, have you seen this You Tube phenomenon? About the wedding party dancing down the aisle in MN? Yeah, it hit home with me, cuz, well, I’m from Minnesota. No, I didn’t know anyone in this video (LOL) But, you have to check it out.
    It just made me smile. The energy and excitement for one of the most important days of anyone’s life-marriage.
  • WHAT IS LOVE?
    love-11
    Heck, I love love. I even did a couple week long series on it Marriage Rocks and Valentines–Week of Love. I love talking about it, writing about it (I write paranormal romances even), and hearing real – life stories of people living it.
    But what’s the definition of Love?
    The dictionary says: an intense feeling of deep affection
    If you type LOVE into the Bible online, or look in the concordance of the Bible, it’s got many references. My fav is: 13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV)
    Or the one commonly heard at weddings: 4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. (1 Corinthians 13:4 NIV)
    But what is it? An emotion? Or a choice?
    I’ve heard both . . . What do you think?
    ~~~

    The one event, and most spectacular in my opinion, that demonstrates love as a choice was Jesus dying on the cross for us. That revelation kinda rocked my world in high school.

    Back then I had long lost the idea of true love really even exisiting (broken home, angry teenager, teen-age turmoil……but that’s another post.)

    The dictionary defines emotion as: a natural instinctive state of mind deriving from one’s circumstances, mood, or relationships with others.

    When I first met Charlie, sure, it started out as an emotion. You know, that sudden-loss-of-breath-when-he-walks-in-the-room-feeling . . . But that emotion soon morphed into a choice.

    A choice to spend the rest of our lives together, even when circumstances and moods change . . . as we all know they can and will.

    But yeah, the sudden-loss-of-breath-when-he-walks-in-the-room-feeling is still there too….So, my answer is BOTH!

  • FUN FACTS ABOUT LOVE–week of love

    heart1Our week of love continues…..

    I can’t go a week without either doing some form of trivia or fun little facts.

    I searched the net and found this interesting article. I scratched my head on a few and some made me chuckle.

    Check it out, and if you want to see the entire list CLICK HERE.

    — Men who kiss their wives in the morning live five years longer than those who don’t.

    — People are more likely to tilt their heads to the right when kissing instead of the left (65 percent of people go to the right!)

    — Two-thirds of people report that they fall in love with someone they’ve known for some time vs. someone that they just met.

    — There’s a reason why office romances occur: The single biggest predictor of love is proximity.

    — Love can also exert the same stress on your body as deep fear. You see the same physiological responses – pupil dilation, sweaty palms, and increased heart rate.

    — Brain scans show that people who view photos of a beloved experience an activation of the caudate – the part of the brain involving cravings.

    Now, I’m not endorsing the article from where I got these…I just thought a few of them were interesting. But, I must say, my most favorite idea of love is:

    4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8

    Doesn’t get much better than that, does it?
