It’s been a blast jumping into the fun-filled world of middle grade writing. I’m super excited to introduce Bot to you all.
Here’s the blurb and a sneak peak into the first few lines of the story….
Eleven-year-old Robert “Bot” Trials comes to terms with becoming a cyborg—the very thing that has turned his friends and their families against him.
His desperate need to prove he can be a normal human boy pairs him with an unlikely friend: the mysterious girl who just moved into the Haunted House on the Hill. The bullies, haters, and frightening urban legends won’t stand in their way of finding a talking dog that showed up the same time mystery girl did.
With his wacky new friend and his long time best friend at his side, they set out on an adventure that leads them into a world of secret societies and technology warfare. Everything spirals out of control when deadly family secrets are exposed.
Secrets that could kill them all.
THE DAY I DIDN’T DIE
Lightning flashed, and the entire, beaten-down house on the hill was visible in the blast of yellow. The shattered windows on the main floor morphed into dark mouths with jagged glass teeth. Ones that could chomp anything to shreds.
Thunder clapped. My tree house roof rattled. I stepped away from the telescope and held my breath to listen.
Wind howled, moaning through the gaps in the walls of my little hideaway. Branches scraped along the wooden roof.
If you follow me on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, surely you’ve met Alastair. He’s my little buddy who hangs out with me…pretty much everywhere. He’s in a Middle Grade series I’m working on called Realm Jumpers.
Well, I’ve started a new series. The working title (which will more than likely change) is A Pirate’s Grace.
And yes…there’s an owl in it!
She just made her appearance in the story so I figured I’d come to you guys for help with a name!
I don’t have an official blurb about the book yet, but here’s a quick look in case that helps with picking out a name:
[stextbox id=”custom”]A Pirate’s Grace is about about an eleven-year-old “pirate in training” and the thrilling adventure he stumbles into when he rescues a mysterious girl from the sea who claims she fell into his world through the pirate book she was reading.[/stextbox]
So, if you have any ideas…leave them in the comments. Who knows, I might just use the one you suggest!
It’s been fun venturing into the world of Middle Grade writing. And you know what? I love it! Now…let’s hope there’s a publisher who loves my story as much as I do, right?
I shared the tagline on my VLOG, but here I’ll share a little bit more here….
Watcher of the Realms is for those who enjoy James Patterson’s Maximum Ride Protector series with a touch of the movie Men in Black.
The boy science created taught the world humanity.
A clandestine group of rebel genetic misfits rescue eleven-year-old Riley from a secret science lab and realize he has uncharted strength and a unique ability to heal people, but his mind has been completely erased.
On his quest to find out what he is, Riley and his new friends are transported to an alien land filled with creatures plucked right from a monster movie. One of those creatures, the King of the Realms, deems Riley’s existence an abomination of nature and declares war with the Realm of the Humans for creating him.
The only way to prevent Earth’s extinction is to find the evil scientists who created him, but with no memory and creatures from other Realms foiling his plans, Earth’s days might be numbered.
So come follow me on Instagram for updates on Alastair’s Adventures.
