• This Writer’s Journey . . .

Writing is a journey, one I truly love and enjoy, but it can sometimes feel rather lonely. Hour after hour, alone, at the computer, pouring your heart and soul into each word. But I’ve learned I’m not alone, in fact, I’ve been blessed to be in contact with some amazing people, both writers and non-writers.

I want to share a bit of that with you. Each week I’ll be spotlighting someone I’ve come in contact with during my journey. Thanks for stepping along side of me-all of you-during this exciting time!

    Ben Erlichman

I met Ben through ACFW, right before the National conference back in 2009. We’d chatted a few times on email before heading meeting up at the conference. It was an honor to get to know him over the four day conference. He’s so filled with joy for life-it’s inspiring. He’s never short a smile or nod of encouragement.

We took a few classes together and along with my other friend, Avily Jerome, we hung out a bunch. It’s never dull around Ben, that’s for sure.

I am glad to have met him along my journey. Write on, my friend!

    Becky Tidberg

Way back during my time with ACFW, Becky and I connected in a critique group. She was among the first to read some of my stuff, so she had fun hacking it up. I say that in a loving way, though.

    No joke.

Her grasp on the English language and the techniques of writing is stellar. I have learned so much from her. She’s funny, too. I mean, you have to be when critiquing, otherwise it’s just…well…brutal-for both receiving the critique or giving it!

I really appreciate all the time she put in reading my work and giving me honest and constructive feedback. I’ll never forget Becky.

I’m so glad God put her on my path to publication!

    Lori Lundquist

    Dry Ground

It’s pretty interesting how Lori and I crossed paths. Total God thing, you know? I get this random email asking about writing. Somehow, she tracked me down when she moved to Arizona. She’d decided to take the next step in writing and sought out some fellow writers.

I happened to respond and since then, I count her as a very close friend. Both in relation to writing and non-writing!

Early in our friendship, we embarked on a getaway out to California to attend a small writer’s conference. The four-hour journey allowed tons of time to get to know one another.

Lori’s got a fantastic story, but one thing that stood out to me during that time is her ability to see into things. What I mean is, she can take a concept, movie, song…whatever…and find a deeper meaning behind it.

It’s freakishly amazing. You should head over to Dry Ground. That’s her blog. Click on the LESSONS I LEARNED WHILE READING A VAMPIRE SAGA on the right column and you’ll see what I mean.

    Amazing

Though she’s moved away from Arizona, we still stay in close, For that I’m grateful.

I can only wait until the day we meet again. Thanks, Lori, for stepping along side me during this crazy, awesome, scary, fun road to publication.

    Danica Avet

I first “met” Danica online. I can’t even remember how we connected, but I think it was through someone’s blog. She might have posted a comment, and I clicked her name. Everywhere I found her, her profile picture was a sunset….until recently, anyway. That’s why I had to include both pictures. *smile*

I’m so glad to know her. I hope to meet her in person in New York at the RWA national conference…we’ll see if I’m able to go this year. *fingers crossed*

What drew me to Danica was her fantastic sense of humor. I love people who love to laugh and enjoy life. You have to head over to her blog and start following it…she’s freaking hysterical. I look forward to her posts each day and the smile I know it will bring to my face.

She’s got some books coming out soon, too, and it has been fun watching that come to fruition, too. The road hasn’t been easy…but it’s finally happening for her!

    Glad to know you, Danica!
