• This Writer’s Journey RECAP

On Fridays I usually do a This Writer’s Journey post. I started that in 2011 because during this journey toward publication, I’ve been blessed to meet many people.

But today, as we near the end of 2011, I figured I’d do a little link to all of them.

  • This Writer’s Journey…Chris Maxson

Writing is a journey, one I truly love and enjoy, but it can sometimes feel rather lonely. Hour after hour, alone, at the computer, pouring your heart and soul into each word. But I’ve learned I’m not alone, in fact, I’ve been blessed to be in contact with some amazing people, both writers and non-writers.

I want to share a bit of that with you. Each week I’ll be spotlighting someone I’ve come in contact with during my journey. Thanks for stepping along side of me-all of you-during this exciting time!

    Chris Maxson

I met Chris a couple of years ago when I started a new job doing some marketing for a local company. Since then I’ve left that job and so has he, but we’ve kept up through Facebook. Gotta love Facebook. 🙂

Anyway, I had to mention Chris here because he’s been a big part of my writing journey. With his and his wife’s support, encouragement, and Chris’s website knowledge.

Now, I jokingly posted on Twitter the other night: Lynn Rush + Technology = TROUBLE. I was on my way to meet Chris to get the new website finished up, and I was nervous something wouldn’t go right. I mean, when someone says, “Oh, it’s easy.” I simply roll my eyes and smile.

I really don’t know much about doing that website set up stuff at all. Once it’s running and I’m shown how to manage things, then I can usually run with it, but the technical stuff…not so much.

Chris offered to help and I’ve been so grateful. For a newbie author just starting out it was a big blessing. More than he can know. He’s so patient with all my questions and worries. I’ve learned so much during all of this.

So thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule, away from your wife & baby, to help me get things rolling with this. I’ll never forget it!

    Luke Romyn

I first met Luke a couple of years ago. We both had the same agent at the time. I started stalking watching him in twitter. Some of the things he’d say had me rolling on the floor with laughter. Such a funny, witty guy.

And one of the nicest people I know. He’s always so supportive of his fellow writers. Eager to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement.

You should check him out on Twitterand his Website. I promise, you won’t be disappointed. His blog always had very interesting and intriguing stories to keep you captivated.

Thanks, Luke, for being you! I’m so glad our paths crossed.

    Liz Pelletier

Boy. I don’t really know where to start with Liz. There are so many great things to say. I think the most exciting memory I have of “meeting” her was when I was looking into becoming a freelance editor.

She spent the time helping me get connected and answering my questions. But what that initial contact led to was more than I could have ever imagined. I found SavvyAuthors.com through her.

Well, she pretty much started it, you know? And through that site, I’ve made many long-lasting friendships, found critique partners, and not to mention, found my publisher! Yep. Her site, SavvyAuthors.com, hosted a pitch-session at which I met Marlene from Crescent Moon Press.

Liz is a selfless person always on the look-out for ways to help other writers. Thank you, Liz, for not only stepping along side me in my journey, but helping so many other authors.

I’m super glad our paths crossed!

    Jillian Chantal

I forget, exactly, how I met Jillian, but I know it was online, and most likely through RWA/FFP, but the main thing is, I now know her.

Gosh, what an intelligent, encouraging, wonderful person she is. I’m on a blog with her called Four Foxes, One Hound. It’s great fun. We’re actually having a little-well, kinda big-giveaway over there this week, you should check it out.

But back to my post. . .

Jillian’s never short of an uplifting word of encouragement. And with all the cruddy, mundane life-stuff that happens once in a while, it’s nice to have someone at the ready with a smile.

I’m super glad our paths crossed, Jillian.
