• Back To College…

I graduated from Southwest Minnesota State University waaaaaayback when it was SSU (Southwest State University). But I got the distinct pleasure to go back there this past weekend. Both for homecoming **AND** a book reading/signing. I also go to chat it up with the creative writing students in Craft and Theory.

Yep, I got to sit in those desk chairs again.

    ***the memories***

Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

It was GREAT fun to meet up with old friends and make tons of new ones. I love talking writing and these creative writing students sure did have some awesome questions.

Now I’m back to the warmth of the desert gearing up for the “official” release of Violet Midnight on October 15th and the big online launch party on October 16th.

  • Book Signing Today!

    You’re Invited

    Here are the details:

    Monday October 8th, 2012

7pm (until about 8:30pm or so)

I’ll be reading from Violet Midnight, and maybe some other books **wink**, and then there will be a book signing.

Here’s the Library’s website: CLICK HERE

    And here’s a little TIP:

Anyone who approaches me and mentioned they saw this post will get a free short story!

  • Minnesota is NOT the desert

So, these lows of thirty degrees and highs of fifty….that’s just for the birds. This thin-skinned desert rat is no longer a Minnesotan.

Sure, I was born in Fargo, ND (yes, they DO talk like the characters in the movie FARGO!) and then raised in Minnesota (yes, they DO have the twang, too)–but a cold-weather girl no longer am I!

    ***SHIVER***

But, the shivers are worth it right now as I get to stroll around the campus that changed my life.

I ventured off to SSU (it was called SSU back then) to play tennis and hopefully get a degree. My high school performance indicated my getting stellar grades in college was still up for debate!

In the end, I DID finish–with honors mind you–with a Psych degree. But most importantly….I met my HUBBY here at this college! So, it’s really great to be here with him again after seventeen years! Strolling down memory lane, going to the place we had our first date, and hanging out with some college buddies.

    **LIFE IS GOOD**

What are you doing this weekend?

  • Hitting the Road…

We head out to Minnesota tomorrow! Specifically Marshall, MN! Where I went to undergrad.

Sure, when I attended, it was called Southwest State University (SSU), but now it’s call Southwest Minnesota State (SMSU)–that’ll take some getting used to.

I’m super excited to head to the library for a reading and signing. Check out this awesome graphic they made for the posters:

I’m also super excited to talk to the Creative Writing class. I graduated with a Psych degree…so I’m evidence you just never know where your degree will land you. It’ll be fun chatting it up with students looking to jump into the world of writing/publishing. Hopefully I can remember where the classrooms are…

So, if you’re in the area, stop on by the signing. I’d love to see you!
