Now, back to some of my favorite Indie books: First up is Angeline Kace’s Descended by Blood. I just loved this book. Great take on Vampire. Angeline’s voice as fun and exciting Next up is Kendall, Grey’ Inhale. It’s the first in her Just Breathe Trilogy. It’s intense, exciting, and even better, Kendall’s donating all her proceeds to charity. Final one is Tara Fuller’s Perigee Moon. This book rocked! Loved the characters, the writing and the voice.

Now, there are tons more I could mention, but that post would be entirely too long. LOL.

Who are some of your favorite indie/self-pub authors out there? Do tell!

  • What Indie-pubbed books are you reading?

Day TWO of the Indie-Pendence Week!

And I’m curious, what “indie” books are you reading? Or have read?

Another question, how do you think they compare to the “traditionally” published books?

I’ve never really been one for labels, period. If the book is good, it’s good, I couldn’t care less who published it!

For me, it’s all about the story. Mostly the characters. If I’m touched by the characters, I’ll read past most any typo I might find in a trad or indie book.

But I want to hear from YOU!

  • Indie-Pendence Week

    Welcome to Indie-Pendence Week!!!

Super excited to be a part of this with GraveTells.com!

I’m with a small publishing house, Crescent Moon Press. They’re handling my Wasteland Trilogy and my Violet Night Trilogy.

There are plenty of reasons smaller presses are a great way to go, but one for me..Flexibilty!

You might be hearing the word New Adult more and more around the web because it’s starting to take the writing world by storm. And with a small press, they have a little more flexibility when it comes to trying something new. My publisher, Crescent Moon Press, is among the first to publish New Adult as its own separate line.

If you look closely at the top edge of the CMP covers (Wasteland and Awaited), you’ll see that it says Crescent Moon Press New Adult.

I mean, how cool is that?

I’ve always written for the twenty-something crowd, but I’d always been told my characters wouldn’t fit anywhere since they were too old for YA but too young and my steam level too sweet for Adult. But smaller presses have more flexibility in what they publish, and I’m proud to be CMP’s flagship author in the New Adult category.

So, I’m very happy to be celebrating Indie-Pendence Week! And what’s a celebration without a few prizes?

  • #CancerSucks

Most of you might know by now that in the past 18 months or so, cancer has touched our lives four times!

My husband’s mom–Lynn–died October 24th, 2011 of cancer. If you’ve been following this blog or any of my writing journey, you know that Lynn was very near and dear to my heart. So close that she is the reason I took Lynn as my pen name! Even called her Mom II.

My husband’s childhood friend, Jeremy, lost his mother to cancer in July 2011.

My dear friend, Sandy, was diagnosed with cancer in November 2011 and is fighting hard to beat it.

My Mum (stepmom) was diagnosed with cancer May 2012.

All of this prompted us to start AZ Pain Train. Our first event is Ragbrai (Bike across Iowa). We EXCEEDED our $2,000 goal. Thank you so very much.

But the reason for today’s post is….

I’ve talked in the past about how I believe all things happen for a reason. I fully trust in God’s plan for everything, even the bad stuff that happen. While it’s difficult going through, I always grow during tough times.

My eyes are opened. Revelations are made.

And with all this cancer around me, I wanted to know what I could do to try and help. So, as I mentioned earlier, my sweet hubby and I formed the AZ Pain Train, but I wanted to try and do more.

    But what? How?

And then I got to thinking (I know that’s a scary thought sometimes, but hang with me….)

I write a lot. Heck, I’ve penned twenty-six novels. Six are spoken for with CMP, and I’ve not really shopped around many of the others. I’ll be jumping into the self-publishing pool in the near future with some of my novels.

With that said, it’s pretty safe to assume writing is a HUGE part of my life, and I wanted to see how I could use that to help in this fight against cancer.

So, starting today, July 1st, 2012, I will be donating a portion of my proceeds from book sales to the American Cancer Society. That’sall my books, the ones out now and those to come in the future.

I know it’s only a small part in a vast issue, but I figure every bit helps.

    QUESTION FOR YOU:

Do you guys have a cause you’ve partnered up with? Something close to your heart that you support? I’d love to hear your story!

  • And The Winner Is…

Hey, everyone, Emma here. I figured since I was the one who snuck the giveaway onto the blog while Lynn was away at RomCon I’d come back to announce the winner!

That Rafflecopter is a pretty slick deal there. I just told it to “pick a winner” and it did:

    Tammy S

    Thanks to everyone who participated!

Be sure to come follow me on TWITTER and FACEBOOK in case I sneak in a few more giveaways on my own because that was fun!

Oh, and a little hint….I’m probably going to be hijacking the blog again in July while Lynn’s busy riding her bike across Iowa! So, stay tuned. You might want to subscribe to the blog so you don’t miss out on the details….
