• This Writer’s Journey–Alan Dean Foster

    Writing is a journey, one I truly love and enjoy, but it can sometimes feel rather lonely. Hour after hour, alone, at the computer, pouring your heart and soul into each word. But I’ve learned I’m not alone, in fact, I’ve been blessed to be in contact with some amazing people, both writers and non-writers.
    I want to share a bit of that with you. Each week I’ll be spotlighting someone I’ve come in contact with during my journey. Thanks for stepping along side of me-all of you-during this exciting time!

    ~~~~~
    Alan Dean Foster
    I met Alan through my publicist back in March. He graciously agreed to go on The Morning Scramble with me. At first I was like, Really? You’re a NY Times Best Selling Author, what do you want to do hanging around me?
    For real.
    He was just so nice. Gracious. Encouraging. It was really great getting to know him. And then he came down to join me at my Awaited Book Launch event at The Changing Hands Bookstore in May. He even gave me an autographed The Chronicles of Riddick book! **whoa**
    I’m so very glad I got to get to know Alan on my writing journey. Such an amazingly talented person. His smile is contagious and he’s just so sweet. So, thank you, Alan, for coming along side me in my journey!
  • Changing Hands Bookstore
    Tuesday night’s book signing was SUPER fun! Here are a bunch of pictures to show a little bit….
    Now. . . it was my first time getting up for a formal “speech” and reading. I’ve done readings on radio shows, sure, but live? I think it went fine. I know I SURE had fun! Of course, when I get to chat it up about writing, all things paranormal, and the new adult genre…I’m a happy camper.
    Even more fun…hanging out with readers. Gosh, it’s so awesome meeting the people who read my books. It just makes me smile.
    Alan Dean Foster is such a nice guy. He’s fun, laid back, and a total writing genius. Maybe some of his brilliance will rub off on me…I could only be so lucky.
    Anyway, thanks for those who came. It was really nice to get to know you all. And for those who missed it, I’ll be around Arizona this summer AND Colorado! So, stay tuned….
  • Lynn Rush & Alan Dean Foster together….
    Today were celebrating the release of my second book, AWAITED, down at Changing Hands Bookstore!
    Sure, it released on May 1st, but TODAY, we’re going to have a little party. So, if you’re in Arizona, I sure hope you stop by. I’d LOVE to meet you.
    I have the very special Alan Dean Foster celebrating with me. He’s a legend in the Sci-Fi world, having penned over 118 novels, including: Star Trek, Star Wars, Terminator Salvation, Aliens…I could go on, but you can just CLICK HERE to get to his site to check out his bibliography.
    I had the privilege of appearing on The Morning Scramble with him back in March, and he’s just an amazing guy. Sweet, gracious, and very talented!!
    I’m honored he’s joining me tonight.
  • S is for Seether and Skillet
    Okay, I know you’re getting sick of me posting Skillet.
    But seriously, that band rocks. They’ve been SOOOO influential in the whole Wasteland Trilogy, I just have to play them on the A to Z Music Challenge…
    This is my favorite video. Check out that drummer. How the heck does she sing like that while hammering on those drums?
    Another “S” band that’s showing up on my Wasteland Trilogy playlists is SEETHER. My dear friend Kendall Grey turned me onto this group.
    Check this one out:
    What bands are rocking your iPod??
    ~~~~

    Hey, don’t forget….

    AWAITED is up on Amazon for Pre-Order. I’m so excited for Russell’s story to hit the shelves May 1st, so put in your order and be the first to get Awaited!!

    SAVE THE DATE: May 15th, 7-8:30pm at Changing Hands Bookstore, I’ll be there with Alan Dean Foster to launch Awaited!! Hope you can come! CLICK HERE for details.

  • Today’s the Day. . .

    The Morning Scramble HERE I COME!

    Today’s the day. If you live in Phoenix or Prescott, be sure to tune in to Channel 13/7 starting at 8:30am today! If you’re not an Arizonan, it’s okay, too. CLCK HERE for a live stream!

    I’m super excited to hang out with awesome author, Alan Dean Foster, and chat up the writing industry. Sci-Fi, Paranormal, and the new space called NEW ADULT!!

    I’m so proud to be among the first authors published in this exciting category. I’d always felt readers from the ages of 18-25 (or so) were neglected. Ones who wanted a bit more than the sweeter side of romance found in Young Adult but not as much of the hot and heavy found in Adult Romance novels.. . . so I’m super excited to be a apart of the New Adult movement taking place!!

    Hope you can join me for the show! Have a SUPER FRIDAY, my dear friends!!

  • And The Journey Goes On. . .

    Up and Down are the two words that I think thoroughly describe the writing industry. I suppose any industry, really, but since I’m in the writing world, I’ll stick to that.

    One day there’s a five-star review, the next a two-star. Oh, but then there’s that email or Facebook post or tweet a fan sends telling you how much they loved your book.

    See what I mean? But hey, ups and downs are a part of it, and I’m glad to be on this path, so I’ll take them both.

    Last week I got a few FUN surprises that I want to share with you all. Because really, you all have been with me for most of this journey. And if you’re new, WELCOME, I’m glad you’re here sharing this journey with me.

    “A pulse-pounding adrenaline surge brimming with poetic pyrotechnics, Rush’s story caresses your heart. Wasteland is a game-changer in the ho-hum angel/demon world. Beautifully written prose, strong characters and a compelling plot will keep readers hooked until the last page.”

    Oh my word. Now do you see why I cried? My dear friends Sean and Pat got reviews as well! I just have to say thank you to all those book bloggers and reviewers out there. You guys are rocking with the reading and reviewing. Thanks for all your hard work and support!
